This was bliss.The next door located pizza shack was an opportunity to experiment with our culinary skills - something that I was a spectacular failure at!Around the property are idyllic and bucolic fields with long horn cattle, chickens and ponies that add to the attraction.Local and historic towns (including York of course) are short drives away. Excellent local walks - Yorkshire dales and moors. We did not go to local restaurants but Sue's own, in house café, within the compound of the property, served excellent and wholesome food.A peaceful, indulgent break.

We all had a fab time, the little ones loved... read more seeing the animals every day in the field and being able to use the pool. Older ones enjoyed the use of the hot tub after a day out. The Granary was much bigger than we expected, with lovely large rooms that had everything you needed. A very well equipped kitchen, with 2 highchairs for the little ones. Games and books available in case you had forgotten to bring anything. It was nice that they got to make pizzas for there tea. It was nice to catch up with Sue and Paul and find out about their wonderful site, will be highly reccomend it to everyone we know who will be visiting that area, and we hope to visit ourselves again in the future.

The hot tub is a bonus.... read more We didn't use the other facilities because we were in the area for a wedding and didn't have time but I am sure they are up to the standard of everything else. Sue is very helpful and resourceful. We particularly enjoyed seeing Paul hugging his horse one evening before the long horned cows joined them in the field. Ideal for families.

The welcome was incredibly warm and so much was included in our stay, including a well thought through pool rota, cracking hot... read more tub, a pizza night in the pizza shack, and a crack at Paul’s whiskey collection. They were so lovely, that we ended up going for supper together at their local pub. I was working in York and stayed at a couple of disappointing places prior, so it was an absolute breath of fresh air to find such a cracking place. Paul and Sue are still upgrading other areas of the property, so it will only get better with time. If you’ve any doubts about this place, don’t. It really was the best stay and well without doubt be back. Amazing local walks, including the dog, wonderful local pubs all around, incredible scenery, lovely Yorkshire folk always ready with a warm welcome, and people that genuinely cared about giving us an unforgettable stay. Great situation for access to York, Thirsk races and other attractions such as Flamingo Land are a short drive away. We were holidaying as a family however the house is an ideal location for large groups or families holidaying together.

The other amenities where good to, a good size swimming pool with table tennis and pool table available However, very disappointed that when we booked it was not pointed out the building adjacent was being refurbished to be a wedding, there where workmen on site every day except the weekend and behind the Granery was just a builders yard. The rear garden of the Granery had been reduced and nothing like the images portrayed. The grassed was cut but area was more weed and the rest was just gravel, the rear certainly didn’t match the quality of the house.We had 9 people over the weekend and was not able to seat everyone outside. I can see what was being accomplished and will be amazing Sue and Paul was very apologetic but I feel let down and over charge

Sue and Paul were so accommodating to what we needed and were always on hand for anything, with quick and helpful communication. The place was located near some beautiful walks for dogs, had a fantastic pizza oven and some fab animals walking around! We can’t wait to visit again!

Also the hot tub was a great hit and felt very special at night with the fairy lights on.
We also acquainted ourselves with the two horses, pigs and long horn heard, which our two boys absolutely loved.
We spent Saturday lunchtime making our own pizzas in the ‘Shack’ which was good fun but harder than it looks!!
All in all, there was something for everyone, a great few days.

The kitchen was very well stocked and the hamper was very much appreciated along with other extras provided. The bathrooms were lovely and clean and very new looking. We made full use of the pool and games room and loved the warm temperature of the water. The pizza shack (next door) was a real fun experience. Lovely “hot” hot tub which was enjoyed by all. Sue was very responsive at all times and nothing was too much trouble. We had a few trips out, to Thirsk, very close and charming, also Helmsley and a day out to Whitby and York. There was a baby gate at the top of the stairs which was amazing as we had three toddlers running loose. The bedrooms were extremely spacious and the beds very comfy. The pool was just amazing too. We ate food at the old black bull just 10 minutes up the road and Kev the landlord was fab! This was a recommendation from Sue. The food is incredible, I would definitely recommend. They managed to get us in despite it being a small local pub. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for cooking. The place was immaculate and looked even better than the photos. These extra touches exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend this stay to anyone. One of the nights we made use of the pizza shack, Sue and Paul provided the pizza dough and Paul showed us how to work it! This was an amazing experience and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Our welcome pack was very thoughtful and there was even a welcome pack for our dog. All in all it was a fantastic break.

We made use of the pizza shack, which was again fantastic. We bought some sourdough pizza bases from Sue, which she dropped off on the day. There were detailed instructions to help us use the oven, and it was a lovely extra detail. We also enjoyed using the hot tub, with views over the local countryside. The house itself was very clean and spacious, ideal for larger groups. I have lived in the area for many years, and would definitely use the space again for groups coming up to visit.

  This is an absolutely incredible place to stay and we were truly blown away from the location with the beautiful views, the size and space of the cottage to the... read more thought, effort and personal touches from the host. Extra towels were provided for using the pool/hot tub, the kitchen was fully stocked with equipment and local recommendations to eat were provided, the host introduced herself upon arrival and was always accessible if needed. It is very clear how much thought and effort goes into the cottage by the host with so many personal touches including a welcome hamper for guests and one for pooches. We had an amazing stay and New Year here and could not have asked for more from the host, a completely wonderful experience.
